Your June 4 editorial, “Tough changes to laws needed,” was right on.
I have seen illegal immigration get out of control in the U.S. with demonstrations and accusations of racism and discrimination. As you stated, the protesters’ basic premise that no one is illegal is clearly flawed. Yet, it seems to be promoted by special interest groups.
I agree with your statement that a lawless start is not the way for newcomers to make good impressions in Canada.
Immigration applicants should be required to sign a statement that they will honour and obey this country’s laws. They should also make a contribution to Canada before daring to protest.
