Meadowvale special needs art students are showing off their talent to the Mississauga community while raising funds for their school program.
About 20 realistic landscapes, still-life images and portraits by the West Credit Secondary School students will be on display Nov. 17-28 at HJA Brown Education Centre, located at 5650 Hurontario St.
"The artwork demonstrates skill, talent, sensitivity and originality. Yet every student artist is exceptional, having overcome real challenges," said art teacher Natalie Mathews.
Four of the images — a tree, face, flower and wolf — were chosen to be placed on greeting cards, and will be sold starting Nov. 28 to raise money for art supplies.
The image of the wolf recently won an award from the Mississauga Arts Council.
"By providing formal recognition of our students' strength, we help them to build a positive self concept — this is the foundation for student success," Mathews said.
