Peel Regional Police have charged a young Mississauga man with robbery and use of firearm after he allegedly tried to rob a 17-year-old at a Clarkson parkette.
The robbery took place yesterday at 2:30 p.m. near Bromsgrove Rd.
Police say the victim was sitting in the park when he was approached by a man who demanded all cash and property he had on him. When the victim refused, a fight ensured, during which the suspect reportedly pulled out a sawed-off rifle from his pants.
The victim fled the scene.
Police later located and arrested a suspect, but did not find a firearm.
The suspect's identity cannot be revealed as he's a youth offender.
Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact them at 905-453-2121 ext. 1133 or contact Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
